2023 NSW Adult Volunteer of the Year Announced

Congratulations to the 2023 NSW Adult Volunteer of the Year: Anthia Kollaras, Waverley Woollahra SES.

Biography

The NSW State Emergency Services (SES) provide crucial, sometimes lifesaving support for communities affected by incidents and disasters across the state.

Anthia started with the NSW SES in August 2009 and across those 13.5 years Anthia has selflessly and unwaveringly provided countless hours of her time to the community and her fellow SES members of the Waverley Woollahra unit – Nominator

Contributions

Having performed as  Team Leader, Rescue Officer and now the Deputy Unity Commander Operations, Anthia Kollaras has contributed to her local SES unit by:

  • Ensuring the smooth operation of her unit,
  • Donating hours of her time replacing and repairing roof tiles/skylights,
  • Cutting up and removing tree branches,
  • Operating flood boats in flooded areas across the state,
  • Co-creating “Operation Orange” to encourage skills development, camaraderie and member retention.

Anthia Kollaras is a valued member of the Waverley Woollahra S.E.S and is someone known to readily put her hand up to assist in the field where she always leads by example – Nominator
