About the 2023 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards
The NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards are in their 17th year and have grown to become one of the largest celebrations of volunteering across Australia. They are an annual program run by The Centre for Volunteering to recognise the outstanding work of volunteers in every region across NSW.
Individuals or teams can be nominated in one of eight award categories.
- Young Volunteer of the Year
- Employee Volunteer of the Year
- Adult Volunteer of the Year
- Volunteer Leader of the Year
- Senior Volunteer of the Year
- NSW Club Volunteer of the Year
- Volunteer Team of the Year
- Not for Profit Voluntary Governance Award
Nominations for the 2023 NSW Volunteer of the Year awards has closed. Thank you to all who nominated their wonderful volunteers for their amazing work.
The Awards Team will be in contact with the nominees before the end of July in relation to their local Regional Volunteer of the Year awards ceremonies.
The Gala State ceremony for the announcement of the 2023 NSW Volunteer of the Year Award Winners will be held in Sydney on Thursday 7 December.

2023 NSW Volunteer of the Year Nomination guidelines
All nominees must:
- Be a volunteer in NSW, a practice defined as time willingly given for the common good and without financial gain*.
- Have volunteered during the previous 12 months for a legitimate not-for-profit organisation, community group, or other entity which engages volunteers in a safe and legal manner, such as schools or government agencies.
You can also nominate your local volunteer or volunteer team for inclusion in the final judging for a Regional and State Volunteer of the Year Award. This nomination consists of completing six parts of the nomination form (three extra questions). All parts must be completed to be accepted by the judging committee.
Please note, volunteers and volunteer managers are not permitted to nominate themselves. All nominators must have permission from the person or team you are nominating to disclose their personal information as part of their entry.
