Amar Singh

Biography

Amar is the founder of Turbans 4 Australia, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping those in need, regardless of religion, language or cultural background. Since its inception in 2015, the organisation has grown significantly, boasting a team of over 500 volunteers.

Turbans 4 Australia played a pivotal role in the 2019 bushfires, delivering 22 trips in NSW’s North and South coasts. Amar also ran Covid relief centres providing hampers and hot meals in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Dubbo, Wollongong, and Queanbeyan. The Northern Rivers flood relief has been the organisation’s longest relief campaign, running into the 14th month. 

In 2022, Amar was the proud recipient of The Centre’s Volunteer Leader of the Year Award and the following year, was awarded the NSW Australian of the Year Local Hero Award.
