The Older Persons Advocacy Network’s #ReadyToListen project
July 25th, 2022
The Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) comprises nine state and territory members that offer free, independent and confidential support and information to older people seeking or already using Australian Government-funded aged care services across the nation, along with their families and carers.
In June this year OPAN launched new educational materials as part of the #ReadytoListen campaign, which is aimed at raising awareness and stamping out the sexual abuse of older people.
The #ReadyToListen project aims to build the skills and capacity of residential aged care service providers to better respond to – and prevent – sexual assault in residential aged care.
The #ReadytoListen Map Guidelines is a policy framework outlining 10 ways in which residential aged care service providers can improve their responses to – and prevent – sexual assault.
