The 3G network will shortly be switched off in Australia in order to boost capacity and reliability on the 4G and 5G networks.

Telstra will switch off its 3G network on 31 August 2024 and Optus on 1 September 2024. TPG Telecom/Vodafone has already switched off its 3G network.

This change will impact any device that uses the 3G network, including but not limited to, medical devices, and EFTPOS machines. Some 4G devices, which use 4G for data but 3G for calls, are also impacted.

It’s important that you are aware of this important change.

Please reach out to your telecommunications provider or device manufacturer for more information.
