National Student Volunteer Week (#NSVW20) runs from 10 – 16 August 2020. The week provides an opportunity to promote and celebrate student volunteering.

Education providers, volunteer organisations and students across the country are invited to participate in #NSVW20 through a variety of events, activities and campaigns that acknowledge and thank student volunteers and connect young people with opportunities to volunteer. Due to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic, online activities are encouraged and smaller in-person events if it’s safe to do so, dependant on state restrictions.

The theme of #NSVW20 is “Collective Impact: Give. Grow. Connect”. When student volunteers give a hand to a cause, they grow as they gain knowledge and skills, and connect with like-minded peers who share their passions and interests. Together student volunteers make a substantial collective impact on Australia.

NSVW inspires students to explore the personal and professional benefits of volunteering, which include valuable work experience, enhanced feelings of self worth, refinement of values, increased understanding of people, local and global issues, and reduced social isolation. NSVW also recognises the significant skills, ideas, enthusiasm, creativity, and time that young people contribute through volunteering.
