Janice devotes countless hours at the Albury Junior Football – especially the canteen, which is arguably the best in the league. Janice’s work is essential in helping hundreds of people enjoy a day out at the local footy, and in raising funds to keep club costs as low as possible for families, to allow more children to engage in sport. Janice has been involved in the Albury community as a volunteer in many capacities for the past 47 years. In addition to the Club canteen, she volunteers with Meals and Wheels, in the school canteen, as a sewing mentor, and at the Albury Private Hospital Auxiliary. Janice’s work ethic and tireless support of her community impresses all who meet her.

2014 Adult Volunteer of the Year

Winner: Sarah Ning of Wodonga RSPCA Albury Branch.

Sarah is a reliable and willing volunteer who holds many positions on the RSPCA committee. She is an achiever who takes on extra duties and continues to become more involved wherever she can. Sarah is pleasant to all, cheerful, and dedicated to improving animal welfare and improving the interactions between people and animals in the Albury Wodonga area.

2014 Volunteer Team of the Year

Winner: The Border Music Camp Incorporated team represented by Peter Cerexhe and 18 volunteers

The Border Music Camp team works throughout the year to organise a week-long music camp for participants aged eight years and older. The group organises every aspect of the camp including event logistics, public relations, risk management and fundraising to cater for the 320 participants. The team also organises every aspects of the end-of -camp concert that attracts nearly 1500 people over two shows.

The Border Music Camp started forty years ago to support rural and remote music students while also creating a space where they can experience creating music with a large number of people. In recent years the camp has extended to reach students from disadvantaged backgrounds through scholarships, so that they too can enjoy their love of music with like-minded people.
