Applications for the 2020 Local Domestic and Family Violence Committee Grants are now open

The NSW Government supports the prevention of domestic and family violence at the local level by providing annual grants to Local Domestic and Family Violence Committees across the state. The NSW Government is pleased to continue the grants program in 2020 with a total of $80,000. Grants of up to $1,800 are available for projects that raise awareness about the impacts of domestic and family violence (DFV).

Projects the NSW Government is looking to fund

Promotional events for awareness of DFV.  Past successful community events have included walks, candlelight vigils, and community information days.

• Projects that reinforce messages about positive behaviours and social norms rejecting violence against women, and collaborations with local organisations, especially men’s-based organisations, groups and schools, in leading efforts for change.
• Funds can also be used to develop educational and awareness raising resources, print information booklets, promotional brochures and posters about DFV and/or local services.

Funding

Funding of up to $1,800 (GST exc) is available per committee for projects through an on-line submission process. Committees should, wherever possible, seek in-kind support and/or financial contributions from project partners. Committee contributions are encouraged and can include voluntary labour, child care with an approved service provider, use of existing facilities, equipment or other resources, and/or administrative support.

Grants objectives

The grants have three key objectives:

• To raise awareness in the community of the impacts of domestic and family violence.
• To reinforce messages about positive behaviours and social norms rejecting violence against women, and engage local organisations, especially men’s based organisations, groups and schools, in leading efforts for change.
• To increase awareness in the local community of services and support available for those experiencing or perpetrating domestic and family violence, or those responsible for it.

Who can apply?

To qualify as a Local Domestic and Family Violence Committee for this funding, the committee must:

• Be a formally recognised forum where organisations in a local area (government and non-government) providing services to women, men and children experiencing domestic and family violence, can discuss issues of concern.
• Enhance inter-agency responses to women, men and children who experience domestic and family violence.
• Be a body with membership from both government agencies and non-government organisations.
• Have members with demonstrated expertise in addressing domestic and family violence
• Provide Women NSW with an up to date copy of agreed terms of reference (or other relevant operational information), see eligibility in the Grants Funding Guidelines. A list of the successful applications from the 2019 grant round can be found here.

Projects that meet the project criteria as outlined in the Grants Funding Guidelines are invited to submit an application.

Applications will be assessed on merit against the assessment criteria set out in the Grants Funding Guidelines. Late applications will not be accepted.

Application timelines

The 2020 grants round opens at 10AM AEST on 19 October 2020 and will close at 4PM AEST on 30 October 2020. Applicants will be notified of the outcome after this time.
