Terms and Conditions of The Centre for Volunteering Membership
Please read these terms and conditions carefully as they apply to your membership of The Centre for Volunteering.
The Centre for Volunteering Membership
Membership is open to individuals and volunteer involving organisations in New South Wales that:
- Have Public Liability and Volunteer Personal Accident insurance as well as individuals who are employed by a Volunteer Involving Organisation.
- Support the National Definition of Volunteering.
- Support the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement.
- Support the purposes of The Centre for Volunteering and are eligible to be a Member.
Membership Term
Membership is for 12 months, starting on the date your membership is activated
Fees for organisations are tiered and based on your organisation’s total annual revenue. This includes all forms of income, including grants, sponsorship, donations, membership and service fees. The fee may change over the life of membership. The Centre reserves the right to query/verify annual revenue (as declared) and adjust the membership tier and fee to reflect this as required.
No refunds are paid on membership fees if membership is terminated early. Membership may be terminated by the member or The Centre with written notice.
Insurance Declaration
By paying a membership fee the organisation declares that it has current Volunteer Personal Accident and Public Liability insurance. For individual members who work with a volunteer involving organisation, by paying a membership fee you are declaring that the organisation you work for has current Volunteer Personal Accident and Public Liability insurance.
Applicants must provide certificates of insurance to become a member and maintain insurance during the period of their membership. Members must inform The Centre immediately of any changes in the status of required insurance coverage.
In listing volunteering opportunities on the national online volunteer recruitment platform with The Centre, the organisation agrees that it is an independent organisation responsible for its own actions, including maintenance of insurances, and that it is not an agent of The Centre and will not hold itself out as such. The organisation further acknowledges and agrees that it is solely responsible for the operations or conduct of its volunteers or of any affiliate organisation(s) using this listing service.
Member Communications
The Centre will communicate via email with the primary contact regarding the membership benefits and member services, including applications and renewals. You can update the contact details at any time by emailing [email protected].
We will also subscribe the primary contact to campaign emails to let you know the latest news, funding opportunities, upcoming training and events. You can update your preferences for receiving these promotional emails at any time by emailing [email protected] or using the unsubscribe function.
- Membership Approval by The Centre’s Board
Membership of The Centre is contingent upon approval from The Centre’s Board of Directors. Membership applications will be reviewed by The Centre’s directors at regular Board meetings. Applicants will be advised of the directors’ decision as soon as possible.
- Support the Purposes of The Centre and Limited Liability of Members
The Centre for Volunteering is a registered Charity and not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. Members must support the purposes of the company, The Centre for Volunteering and agree to comply with the company’s constitution including paying the guarantee (not exceeding $50.00) if the company is wound up.
- Register of Members
In becoming a member you consent to the use and disclosure of personal information, as required for the Register of Members, under the Corporations Act.
Please note, we may revise these terms and conditions from time to time by updating this page. The revised terms will take effect when they are posted. Members will be advised of any changes.
