🎄Christmas Party and Decorating

Task: Assist with decorating communal areas of aged care facilities with Christmas decorations and help decorate residents’ doors. Set up Christmas parties. In the afternoon participate in a game of trivia with residents. Volunteers wear comfortable casual clothing in Christmas colours. Assist with cleanup after meals where appropriate. There may be some outside work and volunteers should wear non-slip shoes, hats and sunscreen.

🎄In-House Giving Tree and Guest Visitation

Task: Organise a pack of goodies to help adolescent that are recovering from substance abuse, suffering from isolation and homeless issues.  The facility needs gifts of cheer for the adolescents and new products to help their youth facilities. Items suitable for donation are movie tickets, books, vouchers, perfumes, barbecue, toiletries, metal cups/plates and much more. A representative from the organisation can come to speak to your staff at your organisation or set a time for you to visit their facility and learn about their programs.

👪Animal Shelter Support

Additional Cost: $50.00 per person, plus donation

Task: Supporting the Home‟s small number of staff. The principal goal is to prevent the unnecessary euthanasia of healthy, loving domestic pets, young and old or with special needs, by finding new homes and giving them a second chance of life.

Duties may include walking the dogs, spending time with the cats, cleaning and feeding the animals, grooming and yard work depending on what is required.

Please note: this animal shelter has a graded walking system for the dogs and an experienced staff member or volunteer will join you if necessary.

👪 Zoo Outing for Homeless Men and Women

Additional Cost: $3400 (includes coach transfer for up to 50 people, entry fee and lunch)

Task: Homeless men and women shelter in Surry Hills would like the opportunity to take their clients (up to 25) to the zoo. This would be a very special treat for their clients, giving them something positive to look forward to.

Volunteers will have plenty of opportunities to interact with clients during the outing and witness how a simple trip to the zoo can bring so much joy to someone‟s life.

👪Open Wardrobe for the Homeless

Location: Inner East

Meal: Sausage Sizzle provided; BYO water and snacks

Additional Cost: $500 (plus any donation of toiletries and clothing would be appreciated)

Task: Open wardrobe is a one-day event where donated clothing are spread out market style in a hall and homeless clients come in to “shop” free of charge. Assist with the setup, running and pack down.

👪Assisting in pop-up Charity Shop Event

Number of employee volunteers needed: 2 – 10 (Many of the roles are gender specific)

Additional Cost: None

Task: This fundraiser has been running since the 1940‟s, where both members of the general public and corporate partners are encouraged to donate their unwanted clothes that are in good condition. Volunteers are then required to help with the sale and sale prep runs throughout the last week of May and November. Donated clothes are re-sold and all funds raised go directly to the programs to help needy families and children.

👪Sorting and ironing of donations to help women gain economic independence

Additional Cost: $600 donation to fund the organisations operating expenses including rent, electricity, shipping costs plus much more.

Task: This not-for-profit organisation that supports women in need who are looking for, or about to commence work. Their mission is to promote the economic independence of women in need by providing free professional attire and a network of support to help women thrive in work and life. Assist with the sorting and ironing of clothing donations, restocking showroom and assisting their volunteer stylists working with clients. There are also opportunities to do skilled volunteering with this organisation.

👪Visitation and Interaction with Aged Care Residents

Meal: Afternoon tea with residents provided

Additional Cost: $200 to cover afternoon tea for all residents and volunteers and activity items

Task: Afternoon visit to aged care facility – play bingo with residents (conduct game and assist frail residents with their game cards), serve and share in afternoon tea with residents.
Residents at this aged care facility always look forward to having volunteer visitors as many don‟t have family and are very lonely.

🍴 Melting Pot

Additional Cost: $100 per head

Task: Participants make meals together with refugee chefs from a western suburbs charity that helps refugees have a good start in Australia. The morning also features a discussion about refugees and asylum seekers, led by a special education director.   Participants then share the delicious cuisine with various nationalities with the chefs, and the bulk of the meals cooked are donated to the refugee community.

Task: This organisation accepts donations of food and grocery products from the food industry and distributes them to charitable and welfare agencies who provide to people in need in the community. The work involves picking and packing of orders, sorting stock and distributing to an established network of organisations.

🍴 Homeless Food Challenge

Number of employee volunteers needed: 10-50
Date &Time: Wednesdays, half day
Location: Sydney CBD

Additional Cost: $250 for room set up (for presentation) plus $10 per participant (either of their own money or provided by their employer)

Task: Volunteers will participate in a homelessness presentation to learn more about the issues of homelessness. They will then do the “challenge” which is for each volunteer to go out and use a budget of

$10 and their creativity to put together a food package to feed a homeless person for 3 days. The volunteers not only have to think about the food but also consider that a homeless person does not have the luxury of refrigeration, a kitchen, basic tools, etc. The food is then brought back to the charity and they will participate in a debrief session of the experience. All food packages will be donated to the charity’s homelessness & social welfare programs for distribution.

🍴 Cook for Good

Additional Cost: $90 per head

Task: Participants are guided with the cooking of several hundred meals at a community kitchen, followed by making deliveries to homeless shelters and cafes/community centres for the homeless.

🍴 Cooking & Urban Walk

Task: Participants are guided with the cooking of several hundred meals at a community kitchen and the team delivers the meals to centres in the Darlinghurst area. The team will then proceed on foot to together with a Homelessness Education Coordinator on an urban walk of the area with an insider‟s perspective on this major social issue.

🍴 Scones for Good

Location: Bondi

Meal: Refreshments provided at kitchen and families will share the tea party scones and beverages with the aged.

Additional Cost: $50 per person

Task: Families bake several hundred scones at a commercial HACCP certified kitchen, and deliver them to homes for the aged. Here you will enjoy an hour-long tea party with residents as well as sharing other activities such as games, music etc. The joy this brings to the elderly, many of whom live a relatively isolated life, is immeasurable. You provide the freshly baked scones, and SuperJam provides us with the delicious jam. This is a great way to support an organisation that assists isolated aged residents whilst spending time and educating corporate families about giving back to the community.

🍴 Three Course Dinner Preparations

Task: Preparing a three course cooked meal for the guest families at the house away from home for families with seriously ill children. Teams must bring along suitable food for the event. List of potential food to be provided with activity description details.

🍴 Social Luncheon Club

Date & Time: Every Tuesday for lunch and Thursday for Morning Tea
Location: North Ryde
Transport: Self organised Meal: BYO Requirement: None

Additional Cost: Providing food for functions (Can be up to 22 people per event)

Task: The range and diversity of corporate volunteering activities can be diverse and rewarding for all involved. Employee volunteers will create a feast for this social club which is held on a monthly basis for socially isolated older people in the Ryde area. Employees will be getting busy in the kitchen and whipping up a feast of fresh food for up to 30 clients that attend this Social Club. Employees will be cooking for the day (kitchen facilities are attached to the centre for the corporate group to utilise) and joining in on the festivities.
This is a great way to support an organisation that has limited funds and resources, as your organisation will be purchasing the food needed for cooking, then cook a healthy meal and join the group for some social interaction.

🍴 Old N Bold Club

Number of employee volunteers needed: 2-3
Date &Time: Every Wednesday for lunch between 12pm – 2pm
Location: North Ryde
Transport: Self organised Meal: BYO
Requirement: Male employees preferred

Additional Cost: Providing food for functions (Can be up to 22 people per event)

Task: Employee volunteers will assist socially isolated elderly men in the Ryde area. Employees will be getting busy in the kitchen and whipping up a feast of fresh food for up to 30 clients that attend this social club. Employees will be asked to assist with a variety of activities.

This is a great way to support an organisation that has limited funds and resources and join the group for some social interaction.

🌱🌞 Foreshore Clean-up Program

Number of employee volunteers needed: 5 – 50 people
Date &Time: Nominate a date including weekends for this seven day a week operation.
Location: Sydney Harbour and environs
Transport: Self organised
Meal: BYO
Requirement: Participants are asked to provide their own protective footwear of boots or wellingtons.

Additional Cost: None.

Task: Help remove hazards from Sydney Harbour waters and tributaries (Parramatta and Lane Cove Rivers). This includes removing litter and debris of all kinds that gathers around the water mark. Above this level, it is the responsibility of the local authority to remove litter. This is a huge problem with some 3000 cubic metres of waste being collected weekly. It is challenging and dirty work in an environment that is difficult to access. The work is rewarding and a great one for competing teams. Volunteers will be provided with a full induction, pick up tools, protective gloves, bags for waste and a safety briefing.

🌱🌞 Gardening – Suburban Gardens – 3 regions

Location: Client’s gardens Hornsby, Ku-ring-gai, Ryde, Hunters Hill or Lower North Shore

Additional Cost: A donation towards the program is requested

Task: This is the perfect way to assist frail, aged and people with a disability to stay in their own home and help create an enjoyable garden space. The day is supervised by an experienced team leader who has produced a full scope of works to turn the garden area into an easy to maintain garden. All materials required for the day are provided and tools are WHS checked and maintained.

🌱🌞 Gardening – Supporting families in crisis

Number of employee volunteers needed: 20 – 30

Location: Sadlier & Carlingford
Transport: Self organised

Additional Cost: $800 (small skip bin hire to remove garden waste (about $400 – $500) and about $200 towards gardening equipment (e.g. Gardening gloves, secateurs, rakes and brooms)

Task: Weeding, pruning and general maintenance of extensive lawns and gardens supporting families in crisis. These residential facilities are transitional accommodation for families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless – accommodating families consisting of couples with children, sole fathers, sole mothers and large families.

🌱🌞 Gardening – Aged Care

Meal: BBQ with aged residents

Additional Cost: $200 to $300 donation towards BBQ

Task: Weeding, pruning, planting seedlings and general maintenance of extensive lawns and gardens at an aged care facility. These residential facility gardens are in need of some sprucing up to make time in the outdoors for their residents more enjoyable.

Gardening in the morning, BBQ lunch and a game of trivia or gardening in the afternoon.

🌱🌞 Maintenance of Facility

Task: Assisting with the cleaning and maintenance of a house away from home for families with seriously ill children. Duties include vacuuming, mopping floors, dust and clean-up of furniture and cupboards.

🌱🌞 Makeover of Residential Facilities – Adolescent Life Management Program

Additional Cost: A contribution to painting supplies would be greatly appreciated

Task: Volunteers are required to assist with the updating of a residential facility used during an Adolescent Life Management program in Randwick. This program supports troubled teenagers requiring guidance and support and provides a safe and homely environment during a very difficult period of rehabilitation. Your team will assist with both painting and gardening to improve these most important facilities.

🌱🌞 Social Welfare – Clean-up and Makeover of Youth Program Facility

Task: Volunteers are required to assist with the cleaning up and updating of the Youth Program Facility. This program provides a multitude of programs designed by everyday people who are willing to engage with marginalised young people in the area

🌱🌞 Maintenance of campsite for underprivileged children

Requirement: Bring your own gloves

Additional Cost: $30 per person (includes lunch)

Task: Volunteers are required to assist with the environmental upgrade and general maintenance of trails and gardens at this campsite (e.g. removing lantana weeds, and clearing horse paddock and trails).

The campsite is part of a sponsorship program which seeks to build self-esteem, heighten self-worth and encourage children to believe in themselves. Through participation in outdoor adventure-based activities, team building experiences and other life-changing programs children are validated and affirmed as individuals who are valued and have a purpose.

Task: Help this organisation plant a diverse mix of plants in Oxley Park. The organisation will provide all plants, supervision and an informative environmental experience. The dates chosen will align with national and international environmental celebrations so you will also be part of the Australian contribution to the international conservation effort. Over 2016, through the help of corporate teams, they hope to plant an additional 15,000 plants within this area as well as assist with site maintenance, watering and weed management.
