August 13th, 2026
The 2026 State of the Nation, Ending Loneliness Together study reveals that both formal and informal volunteering reduces the risk of being lonely and socially isolated by 75 per cent!
The extensive study includes statistics across gender, employment, age, education, relationship status, living arrangements and urbanicity. It also covers levels of loneliness in every Australian state and territory.
The vision of Ending Loneliness Together is to create an Australia where everyone feels a sense of connection and belonging.
The study recommends that sustained, flexible funding needs to be in place to enable communities and volunteering organisations to deliver infrastructure for meaningful connection. Learn more here.
