The Voluntas Experience. What we have learned about conflict and disputes involving volunteers.
August 2021 Volunteer Management Forum
Join us on 18 August 2021 at 3pm on Zoom to learn strategies and new ideas from the Voluntas Team to assist with your volunteer programs.
Voluntas is an organisation that offers pro-bono mediators to the volunteer community: “Why” you might ask? It’s because the volunteer community, like any other community, is made up of generous people from all walks of life and backgrounds. And, as with any community, disputes are a normal and natural part of that community.
In the volunteer sector where people offer their skills and services to a community, disputes have high impacts when those skilled services are lost because of a bad experience or conflict. This impact is felt by the volunteer, the organisation they leave and the community they were serving. This session is an opportunity for volunteer organisations and volunteers to share in our learnings about conflict, what causes it, how we react and what to do to manage conflict when it arises. Steve and Lynette will offer you tips about what to do if you are confronted with a conflict with or involving a volunteer. Conflict management skills can be applied in any situation.
Steve Lancken and Lynette Edwards are professional mediators and have been instrumental in delivering the services of Voluntas.
