Free
Join us for the September Volunteer Management to hear from Foodbank’s Volunteer Coordinator on managing diverse groups.

September Volunteer Management Forum with Foodbank – Fighting Hunger in NSW and the ACT

Foodbank have been fighting hunger since 1992.

Today, they source and distribute enough food to provide over 20 million meals to over 660 charity partners and schools – the equivalent of 400,000 meals each week. This is only possible because of the contribution of volunteers, who donated more than 11,000 days of volunteering in the last year alone.

Foodbank NSW & ACT is a non-denominational, not-for-profit organisation that bridges the gap between the food and grocery industry’s surplus items and those going without food in Australia.

Our presenter will share case studies of successful volunteer engagement and first-hand experience of volunteering in the Foodbank Distribution Centre.

An virtual tour will be included in this exciting opportunity to learn from one of the leaders in corporate volunteering and diverse volunteer programs in NSW. Find out ideas to help during COVID-19 and beyond for your volunteer programs.

Our Presenter: Mr Luke Chesworth, Volunteer Coordinator, Foodbank NSW & ACT

Luke’s role as Volunteer Coordinator at Foodbank NSW/ACT combines his passions for food security and volunteer management with his background in Youth Work and Community Services Management.

Luke started out in the community sector as a volunteer in 1997, helping to prepare meals and teach living skills in a youth accommodation service. Since then, his journey has seen him work with young people, families, and communities in accommodation, education, and community development roles.

He has worked with volunteers throughout his career, but his role with Foodbank NSW & ACT is the first time that he has been wholly focused on volunteering. In the last three years, Luke has seen Foodbank’s volunteer program grow and develop to include a diverse range of individual volunteers working alongside large groups of corporate volunteers.

Volunteers are a critical component of Foodbank’s operation, and as they increase the amount of food provided to charities, they also expect their volunteer program to continue growing.

Please note this will be an online Zoom meeting due to COVID-19 restrictions. For enquiries about this Volunteer Management Forum or membership with The Centre for Volunteering on 9261 3600 or email membership@volunteering.com.au.
