Ms Kylie Elliott , Volunteer and Supporter Engagement Lead , Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation
Kylie is an experienced Volunteer Manager and passionate volunteer. In 2020, Kylie was awarded the NSW Excellence in Volunteer Management Award from The Centre for Volunteering
Over the past 30 years, Kylie has actively volunteered for a range of organisations and this hands-on experience led her into a formal volunteer management role 12 years ago.
Initially, Kylie worked with volunteers supporting families who were experiencing financial hardship, and she helped to set up and manage a charity food store. I also managed volunteers in the disability sector, primarily supporting people with a disability in court.
Kylie has worked in a variety of volunteer roles in the sector including Sunnyfield Disability Services and also spent time aligning the program with National Standards for Volunteer Involvement and created new policies and procedures. She has also worked in the Mental Health space at a community centre.
In 2019, Kylie joined Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation as their first Volunteer Coordinator and was recently promoted to Volunteer and Supporter Engagement Lead. She has grown their program to 680 active volunteers supporting more than 60 events a year, with a paperless web-based recruitment process and a full suite of volunteer policies and procedures. Despite the impact of COVID-19 on our Foundation’s ability to deliver events, Kylie has continued to successfully build our volunteer recruitment.
Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation is an independent Health Promotion charity with DGR 1 status. Established in 1986, to date they have contributed more than $200 million to support sick children and their families.
Their fundraising portfolio includes all the paediatric services within Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network: Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick; The Children’s Hospital at Westmead; Kids Research, Bear Cottage and The Newborn and Paediatric Emergency Transport Service (NETS)
They have a bold vision – to create a world where every child has access to the best health care when and where they need it. Together we can bring life to our purpose: Healthy Kids – whatever it takes.
