Our History

The Centre for Volunteering was founded in 1974 as a volunteer bureau housed within the NSW Council on the Ageing, at Argyle Place, The Rocks, Sydney. Our history has been as interesting and varied as the course of volunteering!

 Premises

Our history shows a number of moves around a small area. We moved to the current location, 40 Gloucester Street, The Rocks in March 2011. Prior to this period we were in the following locations:

  • 228 Pitt Street, Sydney from 1999 – 2011
  • 105 Pitt Street, Sydney from 1985 – 1999
  • Argyle Place, The Rocks from 1974 – 1985.
