2023 NSW Senior Volunteer of the Year Announced
Congratulations to the 2023 NSW Adult Volunteer of the Year: Leanne Hillman, Victims and Witnesses of Crime Court Support.
Biography
Victims and Witnesses of Crime Court Support provide assistance to vulnerable community members as they engage with the criminal justice system.
The formality of the court environment, protocols and language are completely unfamiliar to most witnesses further amplifying what is already a very stressful situation. Leanne prepared her clients so that they understood court protocols and the process of giving evidence – Nominator
Contributions
Leanne Hillman has played an essential role in supporting victims, witnesses and the VWCCS itself, including:
- Joining and now managing the inaugural Operational Management Committee starting in 2012.
- Acting as Treasurer for the Incorporation Committee from 2012 to 2022.
- Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Assisting the Induction and Training Programmes by interviewing applicants.
