Volunteers too old to help? Up to the insurance company….

THEY contribute $5 billion to the NSW economy each year, but the state’s volunteers are being forced into early retirement because some insurers refuse to cover older helping hands.

John Dykes was a founding member of Charlestown Golf Club’s Dads’ Army 18 years ago, but the 78-year-old is fighting to ward off another retirement because the club’s insurer won’t cover volunteers over 80.
