Today finding volunteer work is very similar to finding paid work

When looking for a volunteer role, it is important to consider many things:

  • Type of Organisation
  • Location
  • Time commitment
  • Skills Required
  • Experience gained
  • Insurance protection

Volunteering is no longer just a case of offering one’s services to an organisation and starting work.  Volunteer roles are becoming increasingly skilled, competitive and complex and volunteers are looking for work experiences that provide them with particularly skills to enhance their careers.

As one does with seeking paid work, it is advisable to seek assistance to find the right position through an Agency, or in the case of volunteering, a Referral Service.  Whilst this may seem like a time consuming exercise, there are many benefits in going down this path such as:

  •  Advice, guidance and experience is offered to volunteers
  • Many opportunities to choose from
  • Organisations are bona fide with appropriate insurance to protect volunteers
  • Applying directly to organisations online can also be very time consuming and responses may not be prompt.

Our Volunteer Referral Service can match volunteers to roles within the community, it only takes a phone call and a few minutes of your time – why not give us a try.  Call us on 9261 3600 between 10.00am and 3.30pm Mon-Fri.
