Media Partner

Cumberland Newspapers has become official Media Partner for the 2008 NSW Volunteer of the Year Award.
This Award is designed to recognise the contribution of the 1.4 million New South Wales people who give up 235 million hours of their time every year to help others.
Whether it be through sport and physical recreation, education and training, community/welfare and religious groups, advocacy, emergency service, environmental, animal welfare, self-development or other recreational and special interest groups, volunteers contribute an estimated $5 billion to the State's economy.
Cumberland Newspapers is the publisher of 19 leading community newspapers with readership of more than 1.8 million – including 9-5, City Weekly, North Shore Times, Parramatta Advertiser, The Glebe, The Manly Daily and Wentworth Courier to name a few
The Award is being coordinated by The Centre for Volunteering, the peak body for volunteering in NSW.
"We are delighted at having Cumberland on board," says The Centre's CEO, Lynne Dalton. "The main objective we have with the Award is to encourage people to nominate volunteers in their organisation who have made a significant contribution and Cumberland's involvement will certainly help us achieve our objective".
"Cumberland Newspapers will, over the next few months, help to remind people of the need to nominate for their volunteer to be recognised."
