Nominate for the 2008 NSW Volunteer of the Year and meet the 2007 Regional Winners

Russell Deaves – 2007 Central Coast Volunteer of the Year
Mr Russell Deaves, of the Lake Macquarie Rural Fire Service, is the Central Coast’s 2007 NSW Volunteer of the Year. Russell, of Wyee, won the award after being nominated by locals for his unfailing dedication to the Lake Macquarie Rural Fire Service since the early 1960’s. During that time Russell served as both Captain and Group Captain for the service and today still volunteers as a fireman on callout. Read more

Bert Reay – 2007 Hunter Volunteer of the Year
Mr Bert Reay, of Charlestown, is the Hunter’s 2007 NSW Volunteer of the Year. He received the Award for his work teaching disabled people the joys of sailing through the world-wide organization, Sailability. Read more

Laurie Perkins – 2007 Illawarra Volunteer of the Year
Mr Laurie Perkins, a 63-year-old pensioner from Nowra, is the Illawarra’s 2007 NSW Volunteer of the Year. Laurie was nominated for the award by local residents for his untiring work with mentally and physically disadvantaged people in the district. Read more

Keith Duggan – 2007 Murray Volunteer of the Year
Local magazine editor Keith Duggan is the Murray’s 2007 NSW Volunteer of the Year. He received the Award for his work on the Howlong community magazine, The Grapevine. Read more

Pat van Tilburg – 2007 New England and Northern Inland Volunteer of the Year
Pat van Tilburg, of Tamworth, is the New England and Northern Inland’s 2007 NSW Volunteer of the Year. She received the Award for her fundraising efforts as Chairperson of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service Support Group. Read more

Norm Cunningham – 2007 North Coast Volunteer of the Year
Norm Cunningham, of the Mininbah Fire Brigade, is the North Coast’s 2007 NSW Volunteer of the Year. Read more

Marie Taylor – 2007 Northern River Volunteer of the Year
Wardell resident Marie Taylor is the Northern Rivers’ 2007 NSW Volunteer of the Year. She was given the Award last year in recognition of over 16 years of helping people to adjust after major bowel and bladder surgery. Read more

Bevin Brown – 2007 Orana / Far West Volunteer of the Year
Lightning Ridge radio man Bevin Brown is the Orana/ Far West’s 2007 NSW Volunteer of the Year. He received the Award for his work on the local community radio station, Opal FM. Read more

Maxwell Day – 2007 Riverina Volunteer of the Year
Mr Maxwell Day, President of the Lockhart Progress Association, is the Riverina’s 2007 NSW Volunteer of the Year. A very busy and dedicated man, Max was recognised for his untiring contribution to a wide range of services in the region. Read more

Kevin Hill – 2007 South Coast Volunteer of the Year
Kevin Hill of Vincentia is the South Coast’s 2007 NSW Volunteer of the Year. The Award follows eight years of service with the NSW Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol, the last two as the Deputy Officer Commander for the Southern area. Read more
