Be part of the Volunteering Awareness Forum's NFP information stalls
Are you a member of The Centre for Volunteering? Advertise for volunteers and promote your organisation at The Centre's upcoming Volunteering Awareness Forum on Monday, 10 May 2010 at Parliament House, Sydney.
After the forum, attendees will have the opportunity to browse a number of information stalls, providing them with information on becoming a volunteer with The Centre's member organisations. Tables will be arranged by volunteering type, such as environmental, community etc. You can either:
- Send printed promotional material to The Centre for distribution to attendees OR
- Send a staff member or volunteer to promote your cause and hand out information
Email Kristin Romanis or phone 0412 313 359 before noon, Thursday, 6 May to express your interest and include how you would like to participate.
All promotional material needs to be received before noon Friday, 7 May - deliver to:

Volunteering Australia is pleased to announce the launch of its new online Events Calendar. Here is your chance to tell the world what you are doing to celebrate National Volunteer Week. New features include being able to provide more details around your event, improved search capacity for people looking for NVW events and you can add your event or organisation's logo.

Skilled Diversity Project Launch

Registrations are now open for our upcoming training conference. This training conference is aimed at volunteer managers and coordinators within the community sector.
The Ignite Volunteering Conference will comprise a mixture of plenary sessions, interactive workshops, panels, case studies and sector networking sessions to enable you to:
- Developing skills to better manage volunteering as a resource
- Discussing issues within the non-profit environment
- Access tools and resources to facilitate effective volunteer management
- Develop more contacts within the community sector

Free fuel give away for volunteers
BP Australia is offering free petrol vouchers to volunteers to help with the cost of fulfilling their volunteering duties. Applications must be made by the volunteers themselves by following the link below.

Solo ambo crews too risky: union

"Paramedics are urging the Ambulance Service of NSW to drop a plan to introduce volunteer drivers for one-person crews in the Hunter, saying it would place them and patients at risk.
The Health Services Union will meet the service in the next two weeks to try to resolve the matter, which is before the Industrial Relations Commission." Read more

New report examining corporate volunteering in education
City of London Corporation
"Corporate volunteering in education offers significant financial benefits for business", says City of London. The City of London Corporation
commissioned Corporate Citizenship to undertake research to assess the skills and competencies developed by employees involved in corporate volunteering schemes as well as the financial value accrued by businesses running such schemes. The report – Volunteering: The Business Case – tracks the learning and development of 546 employees from 16 major City firms volunteering in schools and colleges across the UK. Download the report |
