Murray Block of Mosman
Murray Block is a well known figure around Mosman and has contributed to community programs since 1994. His work includes Rotary, Meals on Wheels, the Australian China Friendship Society and Mosman Community Restaurant. Murray has contributed to developing relationships between Australia and China and has contributed through fundraising to sponsoring girls' education in Mudanjiang. He has auctioned some of his personal possessions to raise money for local purposes – a community bus with a wheelchair facility – as well as to assist a Mudanjiang girl to receive a life changing operation.
His nominator, Suzanne Davey says: "Murray's life has been transformed to one of complete engagement with the community, as have the lives of the many people he has assisted through his volunteering roles. "
