National Volunteer Week (10-16 May), is a time to celebrate and thank volunteers – NSW alone has 2.4 million volunteers – as well as promote volunteering to potential volunteers. The Centre for Volunteering will be hosting the following events during National Volunteer Week 2010:

The Minister for Volunteering, the Hon Peter Primrose MLC, will launch National Volunteer Week and the 2010 NSW Volunteer of the Year Award at The Centre's Volunteering Awareness Forum. Open to new and current volunteers of all ages, the Volunteering Awareness Forum will explore the ins and outs of volunteering as well as providing real-life case studies and connect volunteers with volunteer roles – not-for-profit organisations from all sectors will be attending on the day. Led by The Centre for Volunteering's CEO, Lynne Dalton, the forum will cover:

Attend the launch of a new initiative of The Centre for Volunteering, Highly Skilled Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (HS CD) Volunteer Utilisation project, tagged 'Skilled Diversity: Not-for-profit organisations are the key – helping them will help volunteers'.
The NSW Volunteering Minister, the Hon Peter Primrose will opening the launch event, held during National Volunteer Week 2010 at Parliament House, Sydney.

Last year, 50 participants were involved in a recognition (RPL) project, funded by DET NSW (COAG) RPL Skills Express – Industry Partnership Project. 30 people were successful in attaining the full Certificate I in Active Volunteering, seven people attained the full Diploma of Business and 11 people were successful in Statements of Attainment from the Business Diploma. To send these graduates off with a bang the Minister for Volunteering, the Hon. Peter Primrose MLC, will present the certificates in a graduation celebration on Friday, 14 May from 10am.
