Perhaps you would to join the Spirit of Sydney Group who meet several times a year and hear from interesting guest speakers. Below is a synopsis of their last meeting, where The Centre's CEO Lynne Dalton spoke.
"A delightful day was again spent by our happy volunteering Spirit of Sydney Group at Doyle's Restaurant, Circular Quay. Good company, good food, good service and a view which cannot help but make us all love being in Sydney!
As if this was not enough our Speaker, Lynne Dalton, CEO of The Centre of Volunteering in Sydney gave thanks to each of our Group for all volunteering work done by not only each of us but all volunteers that give so much of their time. We are very appreciative of her support. Lynne regaled us with many of her funny, both peculiar /hilarious, and most incredible experiences as she travelled in Saudi Arabia as an Australian delegate at a Global Volunteering Conference.
There were many adventures Lynne shared with us, in her inimitable way, both the serious side of issues and the hilarious incidents that happened to her which she handled with aplomb whereas feel sure many of us may have become a little dismayed.
Just as Lynne had finished speaking with us and answering questions what should sail past us all at Doyle's but the Spirit of Sydney 2000 Jet Cat. Brought back many happy memories to each of us.
It was a fitting finish to our afternoon after having listened to Daniel Beniston speaking for a few moments and thanking us for support given by our Group with some of us volunteering at Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games under his excellent leadership. Daniel also advised us of some of preparations for next Games and we sincerely thank him for all his willing and efficient hard work.
London 2012 here we come!
Our next Luncheon is to be on Saturday 19th September, 2009 with Mick Tancred, Media Director for AOC being our Speaker. We look forward to all meeting up again on this date"
