February 2009 | The Centre for Volunteering
For the Youth Volunteer Program 2009 has already signalled change and new partnerships! This year The Centre aims to work in close partnership with not-for-profit organisations to enhance the ways in which young people can volunteer. At the same time we hope to increase the accessibility of services and the involvement of young people in volunteer programs.
To welcome in the New Year, the Youth Volunteer Program Manager, Maia Giordano, has updated the navigation and content for the Youth Volunteering section of The Centre's website. Watch this space for more updates in the coming months!
The Centre is proud to announce that it will be partnering with the Forum on Australia’s Islamic Relations (FAIR) on the Helping Hands Muslim Youth Volunteer Project in Western Sydney. The project will involve SCIP seminars, a mentor program for Muslim young people and a National Service Providers symposium. "This project will encourage more active participation in mainstream social and community based activities to lesson feelings of isolation and marginalisation in some communities." (FAIR)
If anyone would like more information on how your organisation can get involved in any aspect of the project please email The Centre for Volunteering or phone 02 9261 3600.
