The Board of The Centre for Volunteering met on 24 September 2009. At the meeting the Board was pleased to endorse The Centre's new draft constitution that went to members for ratification at the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 28 October 2009. Expert staff of Freehills law firm have provided The Centre with very generous support on a pro-bono basis to re-draft the original Articles of Association created in 1982.
The Board also endorsed the Annual Report for 2008-09 following completion of the annual audit conducted by KS Black & Co.
Board Members congratulated The Centre's staff for their hard work to deliver the Ignite Volunteering Development Conference held on 17 and 18 September 2009 at Darling Harbour. Communications Manager Jacqui Hastings is compiling feedback from conference participants which will be presented to the Board at the November meeting.
Lynne Dalton, CEO is participating in a business analysis project for The Centre conducted by an external performance improvement strategy firm. A presentation of project findings was delivered to the Board in late October 2009.
Judging for the 2009 NSW Volunteer of the Year award is finished. Regional winners in all categories will be announced soon and the Board looks forward to The Centre announcing the State Winners at a ceremony to be held on Friday, 4 December 2009.
After three decades of dedicated support and guidance, David Thomas has needed to resign from the Board of Directors for health reasons. The Board, staff and volunteers will sincerely miss David's deep commitment and his huge contribution to the volunteering sector and The Centre for Volunteering.
