A consultant has been commissioned by Dept FAHCSIA to undertake the review of Volunteering Australia and has scheduled consultation events in Sydney. The process includes face-to-face consultation consisting of interviews with individual key stakeholders and open forums.
There are forum sessions in Sydney on Monday, 21 September, 10am–12noon and Tuesday, 22 September, 3–5pm at The Centre for Volunteering at Level 2, 228 Pitt St, Sydney. Please ring 9261 3600 to register your attendance.
There is also the opportunity to provide input to the review through written submissions and a survey to:

Focus and Format
Submissions should address any or all of the review Terms of Reference listed below. Respondents are encouraged to prepare brief and succinct submissions
Terms of Reference
- The extent to which Volunteering Australia represents volunteering in Australia and the views of its members to Government including:
- Its effectiveness in maintaining links with government and non-government organisations in the volunteering and non-profit sector;
- The quality and usefulness of advice provided; and
- Its ability to canvass and raise relevant issues.
- The quality and appropriateness of support provided to the State and Territory peak bodies, volunteer resource centres and volunteers.
- The quality, timeliness and effectiveness of Volunteering Australia's advice to government including its ability to establish and maintain productive working relationship with government stakeholders.
- The effectiveness of Volunteering Australia's role in informing its membership and relevant constituents about government policy.
- The extent to which government obtains value for money in regard to its funding of Volunteering Australia under the National Secretariat Program, National Skills Centre and other funding provided for various projects, aimed at promoting and supporting volunteering in Australia.
- The extent to which Volunteering Australia utilises opportunities to partner with corporate and non-government organisations to maximise their capacity and outcomes for volunteering

The review team will maintain the confidentiality of submissions.
Number of Submissions
Submissions are invited from individuals and organisations. One submission only should be provided on behalf of an organisation.
