The Smith Family says thank you to their volunteers

8 May 2008 | The Smith Family

National Volunteer Week (May 12-18) celebrates the achievements of Australians who selflessly donate their time to volunteer their services to not-for-profit organisations such as The Smith Family.

The Smith Family is supported by more than 6,500 volunteers nationwide helping to lower administration costs for the organisation and ensure that as many members of the community as possible continue to benefit from its initiatives.

Hundreds of The Smith Family volunteers will be formally thanked for their hard work at celebrations to be held around the nation during National Volunteer Week. From a BBQ and bowling in Brisbane, to speakers and panel discussions in Collingwood, to a picnic in the park in Parramatta, The Smith Family will be recognising and acknowledging the volunteers for their hard work.

Acting CEO Paul Henderson said volunteers played an essential role, "Our volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation. The time they give is invaluable, and without them we wouldn’t achieve the same success. The Smith Family volunteers make a huge contribution to Australia’s future. Without their support we couldn’t help as many disadvantaged Australian children through education as we presently do."
