12th National Conference on Volunteering – Keynote speakers announced

20 March 2008 | Volunteering Australia

Volunteering Australia is pleased to announce two keynote speakers for the 12th National Conference on Volunteering (3–5 September 2008) .

Bruno Ayres, Chief Networking Officer for the V2V Network (Volunteer-to-Volunteer), and Tim Costello, CEO of World Vision.

Bruno, based in Brazil, is a major part of the team that developed this outstanding success story. V2V has created innovative ways to engage citizens, organisations and companies in volunteering, and has now expanded its operations to the US in partnership with global companies and volunteer organisations.

Bruno's presentation promises to be a highlight of the conference program and we are very excited to have such an esteemed member of the international volunteering community as our keynote speaker. Don't miss Bruno's presentation.

Tim Costello has long been the voice of social conscience for many Australians, having led debates on domestic issues such as gambling, urban poverty, homelessness, reconciliation and substance abuse. Tim is a sought after public speaker and every year addresses thousands of people from diverse backgrounds

Since February 2004, Rev Tim Costello has been the Chief Executive of World Vision, Australia's largest overseas aid organization. In this current role, Tim has witnessed the worst of humanitarian disasters and seen the most inspiring human responses to suffering.

In 2004, Tim was awarded Victorian of the Year, in June 2005 he was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO), for "service to the community through contributions to social justice, health and welfare issues, international development assistance, and to the Baptist Church" and was named Victorian Australian of the Year in 2006.

Make sure you have the dates marked in your diaries now as this is the only Australian conference that tackles issues in volunteering.

This is the first year the conference has been held outside of Melbourne, and the Gold Coast will provide a sensational backdrop to this major volunteering event.

More details will be released soon on the conference program with early bird registrations being launched in May. For budgeting purposes we estimate a full conference registration will not exceed $995.
