[24 June 2007 | International Volunteers for Peace (IVP)]
Join an international team of volunteers assisting a village in Vanuatu.
Vanuatu is a magical group of islands in the South Pacific Ocean. The Melanesian inhabitants live a peaceful existence in a tropical paradise.
The IVP project is in Epau Village, Efate Island, one and a half hours from the capital, Port Vila.
Work
Our international team of up to 15 volunteers will assist with the completion of several new classrooms, painting, etc. They may also work in market gardens or give classroom assistance.
Accommodation
Very basic with no electricity and composting toilets. Volunteers should bring camping mattress and sleeping bag. There will be the possibility for home-stay in the village for a few days before or after the project.
Costs
Membership of IVP $35, $25 concession. Application fee $350, $300 concession. Extra fee payable on arrival: 100 Euro. This will include your food, accommodation and insurance while on the project.
Skills
Your skills and experience, in whatever field, will be appreciated. Our only requirement is enthusiasm and willingness to work, share and learn. The camp is also open to people who would like to take their children (limit of four children on the project).
Getting there
Air Vanuatu has early-bird flights at very good rates.
