School of Volunteer Management – 2007 Training

The School will introduce competency-based training for Volunteer Managers, one-day workshops and skills training for volunteers.
The School is pleased to announce the introduction of competency-based training for Volunteer Managers. Topics are especially relevant for new managers. Workshop attendees will receive a Certificate of Participation which will count towards an RPL application for a number of qualifications including the Diploma of Business. Students currently enrolled in the School's Diploma of Business can attend workshops (below) for free (conditions apply):
- Project Management
- Manage Recruitment, Selection and Induction Processes
- Facilitate and Capitalise on Change and Innovation
- Manage Conflict
- Ensure Team Effectiveness.
The School will also deliver several one-day workshops at its Sydney training centre. The workshops are listed below:
- Legally Speaking
- Writing Submissions
- Understanding and Implementing the National Standards
- Snapshot for Volunteer Managers
- Train Small Groups
- Leadership
- Understanding the Role of Management Committees.
Skills training for volunteers will also be introduced. Pending approval from VETAB, the School will offer this training through regional networks and local Volunteer Referral Centres/Agencies. Topics are listed below:
- Be an effective volunteer (AV03VOL1A)
- Organise work (SRXORG001A)
- Follow workplace safety procedures (BSBCMN106A)
- Create client relationships (SRXGCSO01A)

Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers (CHCCS405A)
- Apply basic communication skills (BSBCMN103A)
Please note that the School is available for in-house training within your organisation to meet or identify your specific needs.
