On Monday, 18 December 2006, The Centre for Volunteering was pleased to receive a visit from the newly appointed Minister for Volunteering the Hon. Tony Kelly, MLC.
Minister Kelly took the opportunity to visit The Centre to meet with Board members' Chair Joy Woodhouse and Finance Director Bruce Edwards as well as CEO Lynne Dalton. The Minister was accompanied by his staff members Belinda Neal and Stacey Tannos.
Discussions took place about the operation of The Centre and its major activities as well as discussion about how The Centre can keep the Minister informed of the major issues currently facing the volunteering sector throughout NSW.
The Minister was also given a conducted tour of The Centre and was introduced to the staff and volunteers on duty.
CEO Lynne Dalton will again meet with the Minister's staff early in the new year to develop a communication strategy and discuss in more depth how the new portfolio can support volunteers and volunteering organisations in NSW.
