FEBRUARY NETWORKING EVENT
– Getting students involved in Volunteering
University of Technology Sydney (UTS) – Shopfront Community Program
Thursday, 22 February 2018
2:00pm – 4:00pm
Organisations within the not for profit sector have been required to take on a variety of programs that encompass all age groups. Many would also like to receive more young volunteers to revitalise their programs and create new supporters. Students make a considerable contribution to society through volunteering. There are numerous mutual benefits for student volunteering in your organisation and we will discuss how their University are engaging with students to get them in involved in the community, tips and ideas for capturing the youth market for win-win outcomes.
Our presenter is from University of Technology Sydney (UTS) – Shopfront Community Program, one of the key programs championing social justice and social change. Shopfront places UTS students at the heart of the community sector to gain real world experience and make a meaningful difference to local not-for-profit organisations. Since 1996, Shopfront has facilitated more than 1,000 successful community coursework projects for more than 800 not-for-profit organisations as well as overseeing 90,000 hours of extra-curricular student volunteering in the community.
